Polska droga do demokracji

Abstract

Celem niniejszej pracy jest próba przedstawienia przyczyn załamania się systemu komunistycznego w Polsce, przemian zachodzących podczas procesu demokratyzacji i społecznych postaw wybitnych Polaków. Stanowi ona jednak zaledwie kompendium wiedzy i badań z tematu najistotniejszych wydarzeń politycznych Polski od czasu II Wojny Światowej szeroko opisywanej na łamach wielu opracowań.

Wnioskuję, że przepis na osiągnięcie demokratycznych struktur nie istnieje. Dokonane po roku 1980 w Polsce przemiany zarówno polityczne, gospodarcze jak i społeczne stanowiły milowy krok w przyszłość.

We współczesnym świecie trudno jednak mówić o pełnej demokracji. Jest to raczej ideał, do którego poszczególne kraje zmierzają, którym się posiłkują w rozwiązywaniu swych istotnych zagadnień i problemów ustrojowych. Czasy, w których żyjemy, zwłaszcza w zamożnych demokracjach Zachodu, stawiają nas przed nieuniknionymi wyzwaniami, które stanowią też jednak szansę. Pamiętać należy, iż w cywilizowanym świecie konsultacje społeczne nie odbywają się pod lufą kałasznikowa.

Polska droga ostatniego ćwierćwiecza wiodła w poprzek nieubłaganej, wydawałoby się, geopolityce. Historia jednak uczy, że Powstanie Niezależnego Związku „Solidarność” z Lechem Wałęsą na czele dało solidny fundament procesu demokratyzacji w Polsce. Obrady Okrągłego stołu i pierwsze wolne wybory rozbudziły w Polakach nadzieje na upragnioną wolność. Mimo, iż wolność ta okupiona jest krwią i łzami, Polska pokonała tę drogę, aby móc się nią w pełni cieszyć.

The purpose of this study is to present the causes of the collapse of the communist system in Poland, the changes which occurred during the process of democratization and the social attitude of some prominent Poles. This thesis is only a compendium of knowledge and research in the field of the most important political events in Poland since the World War II, which was fully described in many papers. I deduce that the regulation to achieve democratic structures does not exist. The political, economic and social changes introduced in 1980 in Poland were a considerable step into the future. However, it is difficult to talk about absolute democracy in today’s world. It is rather an ideal that individual countries want to reach or use it as an aid to settle their significant issues and to solve constitutional problems. The times that we live in, especially in wealthy Western democracies, put us in a difficult position of inevitable challenges and those challenges may serve as some form of a chance. However, we have to remember that in the civilized world the social consultations are not held with the use of Kalashnikov. The Polish way in the last 25 years led across the inevitable, as it would appear, geopolitics. The history ,however , teaches us that the formation of the Independent Self-governing Trade Union called "Solidarity" with Lech Wałęsa as its leader was a solid foundation in the process of democratization in Poland. The round table talks and the first free election awoke the hope for the desired freedom in the Poles. Despite the fact that this freedom is occupied with tears and blood, Poland overcame all the obstacles in order to fully enjoy it.
